Description:
An Australian sea lion pup (Neophoca cinerea) heads for the beach from its hiding place up in the dunes; pups must avoid injury and/or death from full-grown males at Kangaroo Island’s Seal Bay Conservation Park (South Australia). This species is an eared seal and due to heavy hunting in the 19th century almost became extinct; it is now listed as Endangered and is one of the rarest species on earth.
