A female Australian sea lion (Neophoca cinerea) pauses during a nap to scratch herslef at Kangaroo Island’s Seal Bay Conservation Park (South Australia). A younger seal sleeps by her side. This species is an eared seal and due to heavy hunting in the 19th century almost became extinct; it is now listed as Endangered and is one of the rarest species on earth.
